International competition for Somerset House, London

We're looking for amazing architects to create a new auditorium and public space at one of London's most glorious arts venues....

It is rare indeed that such an amazing project comes along, so we are delighted and honoured to be asked to help.

Remarkably, Somerset House doesn't have an indoor venue of scale so, its Trustees are looking to build a new auditorium for around 700 people, tucked away at river level between the West Wing and New Wing.

That in itself is an intriguing project.

However, the fact that the new auditorium is at a lower level, creates an opportunity to also create a new public space linking the grand Edmond J Safra Fountain Court to the river.

The Trust is looking for an architectural team with creativity at its heart, one that enjoys collaboration and is prepared to explore design ideas to create a robust and purposeful venue that responds with confidence to the extraordinary context and historic buildings.
