We help our clients design and write their development proposals – acting as “Editor in Chief”: defining, collating, coordinating and then writing integrated proposal documents.
This work is often done under huge time pressures and requires close collaboration with the developer and his team of consultants.
Invariably, the document needs to be written at the same time as the site analysis, user consultation, development appraisal and design work are all taking place. As a result, the coordinating process needs to be very clear and efficient but also flexible, to accommodate change as the proposals emerges.
Our service includes:
• Analysing briefing documents
• Identifying key issues that need to
be addressed
• Designing the storyboard for the
proposal document
• Creating and then managing the
timetable for production
• Briefing individuals in the
development team on their input
• Receiving and coordinating written
and visual information from the team
• Re-writing text to create a
pertinent, convincing and seamless
document
• Checking back
• Liaison with the design and
publication team
• Proof reading
Colander has taken this role on a range of project types in both urban and greenfield locations. Projects include a mixed-use building in the City of London, the mixed-use development of one of London’s main railway stations and proposals for an Eco Town.
At Colander, this work is undertaken by Caroline Cole, drawing on her experiences of working in-house with the developer Olympia & York and her expertise in advising on new business submissions within the construction industry.
Similar skills are required to write project briefs, whether for architectural competitions or for projects where the design team has already been appointed. Caroline’s unique background means that Colander is well placed to help here as well.
