Leadership skills
Who is this course for?
This course is aimed at those with leadership responsibilities, or those who are about to be promoted: people who need to consider the bigger picture alongside the needs of individual projects and members of staff. It combines leadership theory and practical applications, using architectural case studies, leadership games, group activities and discussions to ensure full participation and relevance to real life.
Course format
The standard course is designed to cover two full days – either running consecutively or a week apart. A group of 10 to 12 delegates is ideal. A printed, bound set of courses notes will be given to each delegate.
Course content
Typically, the following topics are addressed:
• What is leadership?
• Skills and qualities needed to lead
• Leadership versus management
• Leadership and emotion
• Leadership and power
• Leadership and culture
• Balancing autocracy and democracy
• The ‘golden questions’ of leadership
• The three areas of need
• Levels of leadership – on a project and in a practice
• Inter-personal skills; emotional intelligence and the psychological contract
• Maintaining trust and dealing with mistakes
• Team dynamics
We often find that our clients require a hybrid course, sometimes incorporating elements of assertiveness training or time management alongside selected leadership topics and we are happy to tailor the course accordingly. (see developing assertiveness and time management)
Cost
The cost of this course is on a sliding scale, depending on the number of delegates:
Up to 9 delegates: £2,000 + VAT per day, with one trainer
10 to 12 delegates: £2,300 + VAT per day, with one trainer
13 to 15 delegates: £3,850 + VAT per day, with two trainers
16 to 18 delegates: £4,150 + VAT per day, with two trainers
Preparation time needed to tailor the course to your specific needs will be agreed with you in advance and charged at our standard day rates, available on request.
CPD
CPD certificates will be issued.
