Public course
Programming time on projects
Thursday 31 March 2011
09.30 to 13.00

Tom Taylor, who runs this course, is the archetypal designer-friendly project manager, with a wealth of experience – working in-house at Arup Associates and as a founding director of Buro Four. His various courses, aimed at helping architects to manage their projects more effectively, have become a regular feature of Colander training.

This popular half-day course has attracted people at all levels in practice: those who need a basic primer, and those looking for an update on practical techniques for organising and managing time on projects. It considers the need for programmes, their applications and uses, and reviews four sequential activities:
1. Planning and listing
2. Pragramming and calendarising
3. Monitoring progress
4. Managing time to achieve targets

Topics addressed:
• The need for programmes
• Creating programmes
• Features of good programmes
• Common programming problems
• Applying programmes

As with all Colander training, this course is workshop in its style. It draws on Tom’s personal expertise, as well as proven theory and advice, supported by group discussions, case studies and activities. Numbers are limited to allow a lively, interactive session and make sure that the teaching is relevant to each delegate; all delegates receive a comprehensive set of bound course notes.

Cost
The cost per delegate is £240 + VAT: £288. However, a £50 discount is available if payment is received by 17 March 2011: £190 + VAT (at 17.5% to the end of 2010: £223.25, at 20% thereafter: £228.00)

CPD
CPD Certificates will be issued. For architects, this course complies with RIBA core CPD requirements for practice management.
