Public course
Marketing and new business development
Tuesday 20 November 2012
14.00 to 17.30

Most architects do not take pleasure in marketing. This half-day course considers ways to make marketing both effective and enjoyable, exploring different marketing techniques that allow professional people to engage with their clients as equals rather than simply as salesmen.

It is run by Caroline Cole and makes the most of her hands on experiences of working in-house with design and architectural practices, as well as her extensive track record of advising architects on marketing and new business strategies through Colander’s management consultancy work.

This course usually attracts a mix of architects and marketing professionals who work with architects, which makes for a dynamic session that encourages each to learn from the other.

Topics addressed:
• Marketing a professional practice
• Who do you want to sell what to?
• Existing and new clients
• What do you want to sell?
• Listening to clients
• Contributing to the industry
• Suitable and unsuitable marketing tools
• Finding both the money and the time

As with all Colander training, this course is workshop in its style. It draws on Caroline’s personal expertise, as well as proven theory and advice, supported by group discussions and activities. Numbers are limited to allow a lively, interactive session and make sure that the teaching is relevant to each delegate; all delegates receive a comprehensive set of bound course notes.

The cost per delegate is £240 + VAT: £288. However, a £50 discount is available if payment is received by 6 November 2012: £190 + VAT: £228.00
