Public course
Essential staff management skills
TBA 2009
10.00 to 17.30
Who is this course for?
This course has been designed for architects and administrative support staff who have been (or are about to be) given formal management responsibilities over others. Success in the business of architecture cannot be guaranteed by creative ability alone, it also requires teamwork and the co-ordinated efforts of a diverse group of people, all with slightly different agendas. Management is a simple process but it is rarely easy – because it deals with interactions and relationships between people, and people are complex. Managing creative people demands intelligence, flexibility, resilience and subtlety. Fortunately, helpful management techniques can be learned and the associated skills developed – hence this course.
Course format
This is a full day course. It includes statistical and anecdotal evidence and proven theory and advice, supported by group discussions and activities. Delegate numbers are limited in order to facilitate group discussions and maintain the interactive quality of the training. A comprehensive bound set of course notes will be provided.
