Professional agreements for architects
Who is this course for?
This course is for architects in practice with basic Part 3 knowledge of appointments who wish to gain a practical understanding of appointments without becoming experts.
Course format
This is a full day course. Delegate numbers are limited in order to facilitate group discussions and maintain the interactive quality of the training. A printed, bound set of courses notes will be given to each delegate.
Course content
The course will concentrate on the RIBA model forms of appointment in particular SFA99 (2004 edition) and its variants. In addition it will cover reference to other standard form agreements and conditions commonly found in bespoke agreements. Time will be allocated for active participation and discussions with the group.
Topics include:
• Background–standard and bespoke agreements
• What constitutes an agreement
• Liability and limits to liability
• Duties–standard and additional services–liability for the performance of others
• Payment, assignment, novation, suspension, termination
• Set-off, retentions, damages
• Intellectual property rights
• Client obligations-reliance
• Insurances
• Collateral Warranties and Third Party Rights
• CDM–disputes–jurisdiction–notices–etc.
Cost
The cost of this course is on a sliding scale, depending on the number of delegates:
Up to 9 delegates: £2,000 + VAT per day
10 to 12 delegates: £2,300 + VAT per day
12 to 15 delegates: £2,600 + VAT per day
16 to 18 delegates: £2,900 + VAT per day
Any preparation time needed to incorporate your practice’s appraisal procedures into the course will be agreed with you in advance and charged at our standard day rates, available on request.
CPD
All our courses address the RIBA CPD requirements for either Project or Practice Management.
