Tony Broomhead

Tony joined the Colander team in 2011, specifically to offer support to organisations that are using the CIC Scope of Services. Tony is Chair of the Scope of Services Board and was a key member of the multi-disciplinary Steering Group that devised the Scope. As a result he is incredibly well placed to advise on the intricacies of the Scope and how it can be best applied to a variety of contractual issues: putting together a project team, clarifying who does what, integrating specialists into projects, helping practices to define fee levels and allocate resources.

Tony′s interest in improving and integrating inter-disciplinary collaboration has grown from a lifetime career at Arup. He originally trained as a structural engineer; in 1988 he helped set up the Arup office in New York; he was the Commercial Director at Arup Associates from 1993 to 2005 when he was promoted to the role of Commercial Director for the Arup Group′s interests in Middle East and for the Buildings division in Europe, a position that he held until he left the firm in 2011.

This invaluable experience means that Tony is also well placed to offer Colander clients advice on working overseas or on developing and improving commercial skills: bid strategies, negotiations, contracts, financial planning and management.
